The works of Andrew Kochie are rooted in a common theme of abstract minimalism.
"I had an epiphany one afternoon in the studio and saw how abstract minimalism visually became elegant bounded by a simple black border, and a golden ratio division to calculate the border widths. This became a signature of my works early in 2012"
In conjunction with the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014 a solo exhibit was developed called "Statera - Hymns of Balance".
"Statera" literally translates as Balance in latin. This 91 piece solo exhibit was on display at the University of Texas At Arlington Max Sullivan Gallery November 2014 and extended twice due to the success. Curated by Steve Quevedo, this body of work displayed the process of bringing to life the golden ratio, golden spiral, and the mathematical ratios implemented into abstract minimalism.
Including lectures with architecture students, this large solo exhibit taught students the power of lines, balancing ratios, and artistic process.
"I find myself coming back to abstract minimalism quite often after I work on more complex pieces. Abstract minimalism is beautiful, simple, and elegant."
